Matthew 25:36
"I was in prison, and you visited me."
Saturday, Aug. 22nd, Covenant Church Harrisburg sent 19 people into the Anson Women's Correctional Facility! This amazing opportunity was through Proverbs 226 Ministry. What an unforgettable and sacred day of ministry! Our team had the privilege of serving incarcerated mothers and their children during a powerful day centered on reconnection, hope, and the love of Jesus. For some mothers, this was a rare opportunity to hold, laugh with, and simply be “Mom” to their children; heartbreakingly, some had never even been able to hold their children before, while others are facing sentences of 30 years or more, or even life. Throughout the day, families enjoyed a carnival, back-to-school shopping, a special mommy-daughter dance, praise and worship, and precious time simply being together. Richard shared a powerful message of the hope and freedom that can be found in Christ, even in places where circumstances may feel hopeless. It was beautiful, heartbreaking, joyful, and intense all at once. Our team went to minister to these hurting families, but every person who served walked away deeply blessed by the strength of these mothers, the joy of their children, and the reminder that no prison wall, sentence, or circumstance can place someone beyond the reach of God’s love and grace.
